Thanksgiving dinner in Dublin may seem a little unconventional but we do know a thing or two about American traditions. The Irish have strong roots in the United States so we have a lot of visitors from the 50 states with over 1 million visitors coming to the Emerald Isle from the US every year. Many of these travellers come to stay at The Fitzwilliam Hotel to experience the warm welcome from our famous concierge team.

In celebration of Thanksgiving, we want to give US residents in Ireland, travellers, explorers and friends a taste of home with a heavenly feast at Citron restaurant. Head Chef Philip Mahon has flexed his creative muscles with some clever twists on the classic Thanksgiving menu. Savour traditional American holiday fare with roast turkey & pumpkin pie while tempting your taste buds with contemporary variations and super-stylish dishes.

There will be some surprises along the way and we have a sneak peek of what’s to come with this “Pumpkin Pie Martini Cocktail” recipe.

Here’s how to make your own at home…

Ingredients

The ingredients listed below will make two Thanksgiving cocktails:

  • 1 teaspoon of brown sugar or gingerbread crumble
  • Half teaspoon of pumpkin pie spice
  • 1 shot of vodka
  • 1 shot of pumpkin Kahlua
  • 1 tablespoon maple syrup
  • 1 tablespoon pumpkin puree
  • 1 dash of ginger bitters

Method

Combine the brown sugar/crumble and pumpkin pie spice in a bowl and coat the rim of a chilled martini glass then set aside. Add the pumpkin Kahlua and vodka plus the maple syrup, pumpkin puree and ginger bitters to a mixer with crushed ice. To personalise your cocktail, change the alcohol to your favourite tipple to suit your individual needs.

This is the fun part!

Shake the mixer until a froth has formed on the top and you are happy that the alcohol has been evenly distributed. Pour the drink into the pre-prepared glass and garnish with a dusting of pumpkin spice.

Serve at the end of your Thanksgiving feast alongside a warm slice of homemade pumpkin pie for the complete American experience wherever you are in the world.

Chef’s Tip: Add an egg white to the cocktail mix before shaking to create an aerated texture.

There will be an air of fun and celebration over Thanksgiving weekend in The Fitzwilliam Hotel so grab a friend and come along to see what it’s all about. If you can’t join us, find us on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter to check back in after the main event.
