A few things to do this different but lovely December 2020 in Dublin…

Dublin/ 6 November 2020
Back to list

Phew.. we have made it safe and well to the end of 2020. Although the year has been a strange one, let’s hope that as restrictions lift we can get back to our wonderful capital. We very much look forward to supporting our wonderful neighbours and exploring our new look city with lots of terraced dining options or bites to go.. Join us in celebrating Dublin and breathing much needed life back to her streets & shops. Many of the below events are now online but still all are connected to this great Baile Átha Cliath.

Gifted Fair 1t – 31st December

Well it would not be December without The Contemporary Craft & Design Fair in the RDS. A wonderful showcase of Irish products from unique brands and artisan food producers. They will be back in “person” early December 2021 but for 2020 we can skip Dublin 4 traffic and browse their great offering all from the comfort of our couch. They really do have a gift for everyone and it is just wonderful to be able to support local.

This has always been a mainstay in the Dublin literary scene and now we can enjoy some of the 40 events online. The backdrop of Dublin – and some of its intimate and quirky venues will host some of these events. There are children’s storytelling, illustration workshops and of course a writing workshop to get you started! Link

Christmas shopping  – 6pm 24th December

While technically not an “event” – after the year we have had, we think the possibility of a stroll down gorgeous Grafton Street should be on everyone’s must do list. Our local shops, friends and neighbours need our support and there are just so many fabulous places to discover or rediscover.

Present for Dad or your brother from Patrick Sheary Menswear, your Mum from The Kilkenny Shop, your Aunt or sister from the super team at Stable, great kids gifts from our fabulous friends at Cogs and enjoy 10% discount if you show your Fitzwilliam room key.

And finally pick you some festive flowers from our much loved and missed flower sellers. Now that is what I call a successful Christmas shopping expedition.

Handel’s Messiah Online Event 3rd December

Handel’s Messiah will be performed by the Irish Baroque Orchestra and Chamber Choir Ireland. This will be an online event of course and can be enjoyed for up to 48 hours.

First performed in Fishamble Street in Dublin in 1742 – this classic is a can’t miss this December
