At 74 years of age, Engelbert Humperdinck, whose name comes from the 1911 Austrian composer who wrote "Hansel & Gretel", is an artist who, not only shows little sign of slowing down, is always looking forward and discovering new avenues that keep him current, introducing himself to a whole new generation of fans.
Humperdinck has recorded everything from the most romantic ballads to the platinum-selling theme song "Lesbian Seagull" for the latest Beavis and Butthead movie. His remarkable voice and extraordinary talent has endeared him to millions of fans around the globe and the MTV generation has just "discovered" what a magnificent musician the rest of the world has celebrated for decades.
Having sold 150 million albums worldwide and with one of the strongest and most enduring voices in the business, Humperdinck has just received the 2010 Music Legend Award from the American Society of Young Musicians putting him in the company of past recipients including Madonna, Stevie Wonder, Quincy Jones and Brian Wilson.
In October Humperdinck released his first commercial studio album for many years, titled 'RELEASED'. Produced by award winning producer Paul Wiltshire (Human Nature, Shannon Noll, The Backstreet Boys, Delta Goodrem, Vanessa Amorosi, Marcia Hines and Guy Sebastian), ‘RELEASED' is a romantic journey and a true reflection of one of the greatest singers of all time and has something for everyone.
With four Grammy nominations, a Golden Globe for "Entertainer of the Year" (1988), 63 gold and 24 platinum records and a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, Humperdinck has joined an elite group of musical artists, such as Tony Bennett and Burt Bacharach, who have crossed over successfully to both maintain the respect and love of their core audience but also strike a new chord with a younger generation.
